The Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) is a critical patient-reported outcome measure designed to quantify disease activity in individuals with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS). This self-administered questionnaire consists of six questions assessing key symptoms: fatigue, spinal pain, peripheral joint pain, enthesitis, and the intensity and duration of morning stiffness. Each item is scored on a 0-10 scale. The final BASDAI score, ranging from 0 to 10, provides rheumatologists with a valuable, objective measure of subjective symptoms. It aids in monitoring disease progression, evaluating treatment efficacy, and guiding clinical management decisions for patients living with AS.
