About EASI Score (Eczema)

The Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) is a validated clinical tool designed to objectively assess the severity and extent of atopic dermatitis (eczema). It is primarily used by dermatologists, pediatricians, and researchers to quantify disease activity across four distinct body regions: head and neck, upper limbs, trunk, and lower limbs. For each region, both the area affected and the intensity of four specific clinical signs (erythema, induration/papulation, excoriation, and lichenification) are systematically scored. The EASI score provides a standardized, numerical measure, making it invaluable for monitoring treatment response, guiding therapeutic decisions, and ensuring consistent evaluation in clinical trials and routine practice. Its systematic approach enhances patient care by providing a clear, trackable metric of disease progression or improvement.
