About Revised Trauma Score

The Revised Trauma Score (RTS) is a widely utilized physiological scoring system designed for rapid assessment of trauma patients. Primarily employed by emergency medical services, first responders, and emergency department personnel, the RTS evaluates the severity of injury based on three key physiological parameters: Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP), and Respiratory Rate (RR). Each parameter is assigned a coded value, which are then summed to produce a score ranging from 0 to 12. This objective and standardized tool facilitates effective prehospital and emergency department triage, helps predict patient outcomes, guides treatment decisions, and supports the allocation of critical resources, ultimately improving patient management and survival rates in acute trauma cases.
